Florian Manoliu, Romanian Commercial Attaché in Bern, Switzerland

Romanian diplomat Florian Manoliu worked with the other diplomats in saving Jews from deportation in Budapest, Hungary, 1944-45.  He distributed protective papers that were created by Salvadoran diplomat George Mandel Mantello.  Manoliu also distributed the Auschwitz Protocols to a number of Jewish representatives in Switzerland.  Mantello then published the Auschwitz Protocols internationally.

After the Communist takeover of Romania, Manoliu feared arrest.  He and his family fled to Switzerland in September 1947.  He was removed from the diplomatic service.  He and his family immigrated to Argentina.  He died in 1994.

Florian Manoliu was awarded Righteous Among the Nations status in 2001.
